Gynecomastia surgery consists of two main components:
- Removal of the mammary gland
- Extracting the surrounding fat tissue
Sometimes it is necessary to remove a skin fold.
The mark is at the bottom of the areola and is practically unnoticeable. The areola shrinks in the post-operative period and becomes small and flat. The surrounding skin shrinks on the underlying tissue. To help this, a special elastic body has to be worn for about a month after the surgery.
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia. The necessary stay at the clinic is one night. For five days a special compression dressing is to be carried. The pain is mild – like muscle fever. Approximately 3 weeks after the operation, heavy physical work and sports should be avoided.
The effect is final – there are no recurrences.
