Botox is a medicine made of a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum called botulinum toxin. It is used for medical treatment of certain muscular conditions and cosmetic wrinkle removal, as temporary paralysis of the muscles.

How does botox work?

Botox interrupts the transmission of  nerve impulses to the muscle. By stopping the movement of certain muscles on the face it smoothes out the mimic wrinkles.

Medical and cosmetic applications of botox

Botulinum toxin is used primarily as a treatment for reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles and fine lines in elderly people. Besides aesthetic applications, Botox has been found out to be useful in treating various medical conditions including strabismus, migraine, excessive sweating, and more.

How is the botox procedure performed?

Botulinum toxin is administered by dilution of the powder in saline (sodium chloride) and injected directly into neuromuscular tissue. It takes 24-72 hours for the botox to start acting. In some cases it may take up to 5 days for the full effects of botox to be seen.

Botox should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women or in people who have had a previous allergic reactions to the medicine or to any of its ingredients.

Risks and side effects of botox

Botulinum toxin injections are well tolerated and have few side effects. In rare cases, an individual may have a genetic predisposition, resulting in mild, transient malaise.

The procedure involves pricking a very fine needle into the skin and injecting very small doses, which makes it almost painless. After botox treatment, the patient should not lie down for 4 hours.

Up to three weeks after the initial injection, minor corrections may be made if necessary.

Three months after the initial injection and correction, no new botox should be injected due to the risk of antibody formation.

3Mesotherapy is a therapeutic or cosmetic treatment with a product or a product cocktail in minimal doses via multiple micro injections.

Mesotherapy has established itself as a successful remedy for cellulite, hair loss and skin aging. The latest trends are in the field of body shaping through lipolysis. This means that we can destroy the fat cell by injecting a cocktail of products, thus shaping the body, similar to the effect of liposuction. The effect is definitive, but several procedures are needed for the purpose. The product is injected using a pistol called Mesogun. The method is safe – the destryed fat cells reach the liver through the lymphatic pathways and are eliminated through it. The pain of the injection is bearable and the bruises and swellings are faint and disappear within a few days.

 

Lipolytic mesotherapy

The cocktail we use contains mainly Phosphatidylcholine. It is injected deep into the fat storages. It can be combined with ultrasound cavitation for a faster effect. Lymphodrainage massages are also recommended.

Anti-cellulite mesotherapy

To smooth the “orange-peel skin” in women, we use a cocktail containing mainly Carnitine, Caffeine, Artichoke and others. The cocktail is injected deeply subcutaneously (once a month). Approximately 4 procedures are needed to smooth out cellulite. Once the effect is achieved, 1 procedure is recommended once a year for maintenance (usually in late spring).

Anti-cellulite mesotherapy can cause transient swelling and bruising for 2-3 days. For better effect, the procedure can be combined with ultrasound cavitation.

Skin-firming mesotherapy

Skin-firming mesotherapy can be used on the abdomen, thighs, arms and neck. The cocktail we use contains DMAE, coenzyme Q10, silicium and others. It is injected through Meso Gun into the skin at a depth of 2-3 mm. Approximately  4 procedures are made – once a month. Maintenance is recommended once in every 6 months. There is no swelling and bruising. It can be combined with Radiofrequency procedures for a faster effect.

Mesotherapy for hair

Prevents hair loss and increases blood flow to hair follicles, which aids the growth of new hair.

For hair loss: The initial phase should be two sessions per week for 4-5 consecutive weeks. During the maintenance phase, it should be 1 to 4 maintaining sessions in every 6 weeks, or the initial course is repeated if necessary.

Hair thinning: The initial phase should be one session per week for 6 consecutive weeks. During the maintenance phase, it should be from 1 to 3 sessions in every 8 weeks.

The treatment starts to work immediately, but the results are expected to be noticed not earlier than 3 weeks.

Fillers …. hyaluronic acids

We name them differently. But why do we really need them? It is just because with the years our face loses from its volume. The fat tissue breaks down, part of the bone structure disappears, the thickness of the skin decreases. To compensate for all these processes and to be able to withstand the impact of time, we inject bio-compatible products into the skin, under the skin, or recently even under the muscles of the face, namely – on the facial bones. Through this technique we not only fill a given wrinkle, but shape the face shape for a long time.

I use several different types and brands of fillers in order to give my patients the best possible. I most often inject the products of the Swiss brand Teosyal. A year ago they introduced their so-called “dynamic fillers” into their portfolio. They are hyaluron with a longer molecule that can be used to correct fine  mimic wrinkles such as those on the forehead where only Botox has been used so far. Another unique dealer / filler in their wide range is Redensity 2 – a combination of hyaluron and biostimulant, which is successfully injected into the lacrimal fold of the lower eyelid to correct the faint and sad view of the face.

With a clever combination of fillers, mesotherapy, botox and laser procedures, I succeed in restoring the freshness of my patients’ faces and maintain it over time.

Dermal fillers can be used for a variety of reasons related to aging, including:

• Adding volume and smoothing the deep wrinkles from the nose to the mouth (called nasolabial folds)

The filler is injected subcutaneously through a needle or cannula. Anaesthesia is made for patient comfort. The procedure takes about 15 minutes. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally extracted product, and the risk of causing allergic reactions is very low. In some cases redness and swelling may occur. Swelling may last up to 2 days. Post-injection results are immediate, but the duration of action is 8 to 18 months, depending on how quickly the body absorbs hyaluronic acid, what the product is and where it is injected.

The Difference Between Fillers and Botox:

 Although the two procedures include injections, Botox is most often injected around the forehead and the wrinkles around the eyes to stop the movement of the muscles, resulting in wrinkles. This has nothing to do with the smoothing action of the dermal fillers, which are injected into the sinking under the eyes, the nasolabial wrinkles, the mouth.

Since they work differently, many people choose to combine botox and dermal fillers, whereat the face noticeably rejuvenates its appearance.

In addition to fillers that restore volume and smooth wrinkles (such as hyaluronic acid), there are also fillers that stimulate the formation of their own collagen – biostimulating fillers. We use Ellancee. It has a component that fills the volume and a component that stimulates the formation of its own collagen. Its action lasts 2-3 years. Ellancee is especially suitable for patients with thin skin and plenty of fine wrinkles on the face.
